SUBSTANCE: system associated with a sensor shaft for collecting data on the shaft comprises a plurality of sensors disposed in locations spaced along the axis of the sensor shaft, wherein each sensor enters the the first contact zone area between the sensor shaft and the rotating component with the sensor shaft each revolution; coating application station, including the rotatable application rod, forming the second contact zone with one of the sensor shaft and the rotating component, at that, when entering the first contact zone area, each sensor generates a corresponding signal; structure for the periodic initial reference signal generation in connection with the application rod each revolution, and processor for the periodic initial reference signal and generated by each sensor corresponding signal reception, when it moves through the first contact zone, and after the corresponding sensor signal reception, the processor operates to determine the particular sensor from among the sensors, which generated the corresponding signal, based on the value obtained between the corresponding sensor signal and the most recent initial reference signal generation, to determine one of certain plurality of tracking segments, wherein each of plurality of the tracking segments is associated with other value, respectively, and store the sensor corresponding signal in order to associate it with the identified tracking segment.
