HALOGEN-CONTAINING FLUX PREPARATION METHOD FOR THE ALUMINUM AND ITS ALLOYS PROCESSING Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC C22B9/10

Abstract RU 2657680 C1

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the halogenide-containing fluxes preparation process. Method comprises the flux components weighing, constituting the flux base halides batching into the furnace and melting, followed by the remaining metals halides introduction into the melt, mixing the flux melt, the liquid flux granulation or the melt crystallization and the flux crushing, at that, 20÷40 wt.% of binary metal halides with equilibrium vapor pressure at 827 °C of less than 1,330 Pa are melted at heating rate of 15÷40 °C/min, after which the rest 60÷80 wt.% of binary metals halides with equilibrium vapor pressure at 827 °C of less than 1,330 Pa are introduced into the flux melt in batches, then complex metals halides and / or binary metals halides, which equilibrium vapor pressure at 827 °C is more than 1,330 Pa are charged into the flux melt. With the complex metals halides and / or binary metals halides, which equilibrium vapor pressure of at 827 °C is more than 1,330 Pa into the melt flux charging, the flux superheating temperature above the liquidus is maintained of not more than 80 °C. Complex metals halides and binary metals halides, which equilibrium vapor pressure at 827 °C is more than 1,330 Pa, are charged into the melt with excess of 2÷6 wt.% from the design content in the ready flux. Containing the crystalline hydrates binary and complex metals halides are preliminarily dewatered at 220÷300 °C, at that, ratio of the molten flux surface area in the furnace to the total flux volume in the furnace is maintained of not more than 0.8.

EFFECT: enabling increase in the halogenide-containing fluxes production efficiency due to the flux components melting sequence and temperature-time conditions monitoring and control; improvement of the environmental situation due to this flux usage.
