FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for measuring the parameters of traffic, in particular speed and range. Declared multi-purpose multiband laser motion measurement instrument with video fixing contains a location-based laser receiving/transmitting module located in the body, which is designed with possibility to measure speed and range, a video camera, indication unit with a mark for aiming, the position of which corresponds to the position of the laser beam in space, a communication unit and a memory unit connected to the information processing unit. Multi-purpose multiband laser meter additionally comprises an electronic-mechanical laser beam position control unit connected to the laser transceiver module, which is designed with possibility of finding the license plate of a vehicle in the tracking zone and automatically holding the beam on the license plate. Information processing unit comprises a software-hardware module for recognizing number plates, the display unit comprises a display module displaying a frame for aiming, image of which corresponds to the dimensions of the tracking zone, and the aim mark is made with possibility of automatically tracking a target and moving within the said frame.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of detection, photographic fixation, identification of vehicles on multi-lane roads, higher accuracy of determining speed and range to a vehicle while reducing the measurement time, as well as simplifying the aiming.
