FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to traffic control and is meant for measurement of the vehicle overall length and the spacing between vehicles. In compliance with this invention vehicle image is received by the first video camera and processed by the computer. Note here that vehicle image is received by the second video camera as well. Note also that said first and second video cameras ensure the receipt of the vehicle images at the front and rear. Radar is used to measure the vehicle speed and coordinates. Vehicle overall length is calculated with application of the data received from said first and second video cameras. Measurement of spacing between vehicle moving one after another comprises the receipt of the first and second vehicle images with help of the first video camera+ and computer processing thereof to get the spacing between the first and second vehicles. Then, the first and second vehicle images are received from the first and second cameras to get the front and rear vehicle images, to measure the vehicle speed and coordinates with the help of radar and to compute the spacing between said first and second vehicle with the help of obtained data.

EFFECT: measurement of the vehicle overall length and the spacing between vehicles at minimum power and computer costs.
