FIELD: conversion equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a conversion technique and is intended for use on an AC-powered electrically propelled vehicles as a main converter. Traction converters of electrically propelled vehicles are connected to a multi-winding transformer and have a load of the collector motor type, contains a snubber chain, diode shoulders, switches, controlled shoulders, connected to the outer terminal of the secondary winding of the traction transformer, two diode arms, connected permanently to the second terminal of the same winding, the other leads are commutated by switches connected to the diode arms. Above control method consists in that at the beginning of the zone the switch connects the necessary winding, and within the zone a smooth voltage regulation is provided due to a change in the phase of the opening and closing angles of the controlled keys, wherein the switching on and off times of the arms are selected based on the maximum possible power factor.

EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the power factor and the provision of a smooth voltage regulation on the collectors of traction motors.
