SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling an irradiation system intended for use in an apparatus for producing a three-dimensional work piece. First and second irradiated areas are defined on the surface of the carrier, as well as the overlapped area arranged between them. Carrier is adapted to receive layers of a raw material powder to be irradiated with electromagnetic or particle radiation emitted by the irradiation system. First and second irradiation modules of the system are associated with the overlap area, as well as with the first irradiated area and with the second irradiated area, respectively. At least one area of the group comprising the first irradiated area, the second irradiated area and the overlap area are defined in dependence on geometry of the three-dimensional work piece to be produced.

EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the efficiency of the technological process of manufacturing the work piece by optimizing the use of irradiation modules.
