FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus (48) for calibrating irradiating system (18) of apparatus (10) for making a three-dimensional article comprises control module (50) configured to control irradiating system (18) to irradiate irradiation beam (22; 22a, 22b) of illuminated plane (52) in accordance with calibration pattern. Device (48) also comprises sensor unit (56) configured to be arranged in irradiated plane (52) and transmitting, as a result of its irradiation with radiation beam (22; 22a, 22b) in accordance with pattern for calibration, signals to module (50) of control. Control module (50) is also configured to generate, based on signals generated by sensor unit (56) when exposed to radiation beam (22; 22a, 22b), digital image of the actual radiation pattern in order to compare this image with a digital image of the reference pattern in order to detect a discrepancy between the actual and reference patterns and to calibrate irradiating system (18) based on the detected discrepancy between the actual and reference patterns.

EFFECT: device for irradiating system calibration is proposed.
