FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a surface treated titanium or titanium alloy used in a material selected from a group consisting of photocatalytic materials, materials of photoelectric conversion elements, materials resistant to sliding and wear-resistant materials. Following steps are carried out in order to carry out the method: (1) forming titanium nitride on the surface of titanium or a titanium alloy by heat treatment in an atmosphere of gaseous ammonia or nitrogen at a heating temperature of 750°C or higher, (2) anodising the titanium or titanium alloy with the titanium nitride formed on its surface obtained in step (1), applying a voltage of 10 V or more in an electrolyte solution that does not have an etching effect on titanium or titanium alloy, thereby forming a titanium oxide film and (3) heating the titanium or titanium alloy with a titanium oxide film formed on its surface obtained in step (2), at a temperature of 400°C or higher in an atmosphere selected from an air oxidising atmosphere, an atmosphere from a mixture of gaseous oxygen and gaseous nitrogen and an atmosphere of gaseous oxygen.
EFFECT: obtaining material with high corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
