FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: titanium material for electrode consists of a titanium alloy base including, at least, one element selected from the platinum group, Au and Ag; and a mixture layer built up on the titanium alloy base. The above mentioned mixture includes an element, i.e. noble metal being re-precipitated on the titanium alloy base and titanium oxide. The average thickness of the above layer is about 200 nm. At the same time, the mixture layer on the surface and titanium alloy base conductivity is about 12 mOhm·cm2 in contact resistance units. To define contact resistance, the carbon shell being 0.3 mm thick is placed on the opposite surfaces of the titanium alloy base having mixture layer built up on it; titanium alloy material is placed between a pair of copper electrodes through the carbon shell. The area of each copper electrode contact with the titanium alloy material is 1 cm2. Then, voltage drop between carbon shells is measured using four-contact ohmmeter by simultaneous pressing copper electrodes to the titanium alloy material at the superficial pressure 5 kg/cm2. At this moment, hydraulic press is used and 7.4 mA current is supplied between the above electrodes; contact resistance is calculated based on the measured value.
