SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to immunology. Antibody and its antigen-binding site capable of binding to a phosphorylated epitope on a human tau protein with high specificity and/or affinity are disclosed. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition, an immunoconjugate, a nucleic acid encoding such an antibody or antigen-binding portion thereof, a host cell and a method for producing an antibody or antigen-binding portion thereof. In addition, the use of an antibody or antigen-binding site thereof for the manufacture of a medicament is described.
EFFECT: present invention can find further application in the treatment of various conditions associated with tau protein, in particular taupathy, Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementias.
