FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the method for producing the composite sorbent with magnetic properties that can be used for purification of industrial wastewater. Method includes preparing the slurry of magnetite, by means of dispersing Fe3O4 in the 1–5 % solution of polyvinyl alcohol and stirring at 80 °C for 20 minutes in order to obtain the slurry of magnetite in polyvinyl alcohol, adding of coffee waste in the ratio from 1:2 up to 6 into the obtained slurry, stirring at 80 °C for one hour, filtering the formed slurry, and drying the resulting composite at 105 °C up to the constant weight, followed by grinding. Preliminary preparation of coffee wastes is carried out by means of washing the coffee waste with distilled water heated up to 50 °C until the color of coffee and neutral medium disappears and the precipitate is filtered out, drying in the convection oven at 105 °C for 5 hours and treating with 0.5 M alkali solution for 24 hours at the room temperature, with at least 10 weight parts of alkali taken per 1 part of the coffee-grounds.
EFFECT: invention provides for the higher sorption capacity of the magnetic sorbent.
