FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: used in the production of tungsten carbide having catalytic properties. An electrochemical method for producing tungsten carbide using lithium tungstate has been proposed. Electrolysis is carried out in a molten electrolyte, also containing potassium chloride and potassium carbonate as a carbon source, with the following ratio of components, mol.%: KCl 80.0-86.0, K2CO3 4.0-8.0, Li2WO4 10.0-12.0, at a temperature in the range of 1073-1173 K and a current density of 0.5-2.0 A/cm2.
EFFECT: simplifying the production of highly dispersed tungsten carbide powders.
