FIELD: computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. An interlayer prediction method using a processor that accesses the first video signal with a first dynamic range (EDR); accessing the second video signal is the first video signal in the second dynamic range (SDR), the second dynamic range is smaller than the first dynamic range; a prediction function is generated by the processor to predict the pixels of the first video signal in response to the pixels of the second video signal; the threshold of the light areas and correct the prediction function is determined to output a fixed output value for the pixel values of the second video signal exceeding this light area threshold; a second video signal is applied to the corrected prediction function to generate pixel values of the estimated first video signal; the residual signal based on the first video signal and the estimated first video signal is determined; determination of the threshold of dark areas; and for the pixel values of the second video signal below the threshold of the dark areas, the corresponding pixel values of the residual signal are set to zero.

EFFECT: technical result is to increase the efficiency of multi-layer coding, in particular interlayer prediction.
