FIELD: acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means silencing aerodynamic noise of pneumatic equipment and systems for releasing compressed gas or air. Muffler comprises an inlet branch pipe and a rigidly connected housing containing sound absorbing elements, the housing comprises a branch pipe formed as one of the side covers of the housing having a conical and cylindrical portion, while an insert is provided perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical portion, comprising two perforated discs, between which the sound-absorbing element is placed, which is pressed through threaded surfaces by another housing cover, in which the outlet openings are provided. Noise absorbing element is made from cermet with a degree of porosity within the range of optimal values 30–45 %. Sound-absorbing element is made in the form of a layer-by-layer and cross winding of porous filaments wound on an acoustically transparent frame, for example a wire frame, or sound-absorbing element is made of a rigid porous sound-absorbing material, for example, metal foam plastic or shell stone. Sound-absorbing element is made two-layered, while the layer adjacent to one of the walls is made sound-absorbing, and the layer adjacent to another perforated wall is made of a sound-reflecting material of a complex profile, consisting of uniformly distributed hollow tetrahedra, allowing to reflect the sound waves that fall in all directions. As the sound-absorbing material plates from the “Rockwool” type basalt-based mineral wool, or the “URSA” type mineral wool, or the P-75 type basalt wool, or glass wool with glass felt lining are used, wherein on its entire surface the sound absorbing element is lined with acoustically transparent material, for example, EZ-100 glass cloth or “Poviden” type polymer.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of noise suppression.
