SUBSTANCE: cutting insert comprises: three or more corners along the circumference, a main cutting edge formed at a corner between the upper surface and a main side surface, and a sub cutting edge that is formed at a corner between the upper surface and a sub side surface, in which the main cutting edge and the sub cutting edge are arranged successively between the corners, and a flat lower surface. Main cutting edge forms an inclination angle whose height gradually decreases toward the sub cutting edge. Main side surface is formed by a first main side surface in contact with the main cutting edge and a second main side surface in contact with the lower surface. First main side surface and second main side surface are formed successively with different clearance angles. Sub side surface is formed by a first sub side surface in contact with the sub cutting edge and a second sub side surface in contact with the lower surface. First sub side surface and second sub side surface are successively formed with different clearance angles, wherein each of the second main side surface and the second sub side surface form an obtuse angle with the lower surface.

EFFECT: achieving a sufficient inclination angle of the main cutting edge with a limited thickness of the cutting edge and improved mating of the cutting insert with the tool body.
