FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an array of microstructures for use as a vaccine comprising an approximately planar base and a plurality of biodegradable microstructures, where each microstructure has an attachment point to the base and a distal tip that penetrates the skin of the subject, wherein (i) the plurality of microstructures comprises about 0.05-10 wt% (in solid state) of at least one vaccine antigen in a biocompatible and water-soluble binder, wherein the biocompatible and water-soluble binder comprises about 35-80 wt% (in solid state) of the polysaccharide as a single polymeric material, where the polysaccharide is glucan or chemically modified glucan, and about 25-50 wt% (in solid state) of a linear sugar alcohol, and (ii) the base comprises a biocompatible water-insoluble polymeric binder material, wherein the microstructures, upon penetration into the skin of the subject, are dissolved, thereby delivering an immunogenically effective amount of at least one antigen. Invention also relates to a method for obtaining said array, as well as the use of said array.
EFFECT: injections using the proposed array have improved efficacy.
