SUBSTANCE: method for forming an ear plug including a leg and a shaky part comprising the steps of providing a blank comprising an elongated core comprising a first material and having a first and second ends and an outer major surface; and an outer layer comprising a second material and covering at least a portion of the outer major surface of the elongated core; second material comprising expanding spheres including thermoplastic spheres having a shell in which the gas is enclosed; and provide the expansion of spheres for the expansion of the second material, wherein said second material near the first end of the elongated core is expanded to a greater extent than near the first end of the elongated core. Expanded second material near the first end of the elongated core forms the noise-absorbing part of the ear plug, and near the second end of the elongated core forms the leg of the ear plug.
