FIELD: heat exchange.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of heat power engineering, namely, heating by eddy currents of industrial facilities such as tanks, cisterns and pipelines, which contain a medium that requires heating during operation of the facilities. Method for heating the metal wall of the shell includes placing on the heated shell an insulated current conductor closed from the outside by a screen or sequentially arranged screens of a ferromagnetic material. After passing an alternating current through the conductor and creating eddy currents around it. In the method, screens or a screen in the form of a profile tapering outward from the shell wall are used, while the screen is arranged so that it with the shell forms a closed contour located on the part of the outer surface of the shell and on the inner surface of the screen. Further, eddy currents of the screen are guided along this contour and simultaneously heat the screen and the part of the wall of the heated shell that is under the shield.
EFFECT: reduction of power consumption for heating the metal shell of an industrial facility.
