FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, surgical oncology, and can be used to predict the six-month life expectancy of a patient with obstructive jaundice associated with biliary stricture of tumor etiology. Essence: at the time of admission, the patient is examined to establish if they have acute cholangitis and the platelet count is determined using a full blood exam and if the patient does not have acute cholangitis and their platelet count is more than 250×109/l, it is predicted that their life expectancy is more than six months, and if the patient does not have acute cholangitis and their platelet count is less than 250×109/l or and if the patient does have acute cholangitis, regardless of the platelet count, their life expectancy is less than six months. Such method allows to predict the six-month life expectancy of patients with obstructive jaundice in the presence of biliary stricture of tumor etiology with the purpose of choosing proper surgical treatment, including the type of stent to be installed.
EFFECT: method has a high forecast accuracy (90 %), is simple and accessible.
