FIELD: agriculture; machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agricultural machine building. Method of manufacturing a knife 1 of a straw shredder involves creating a steel blank with a cutting edge and applying a hardening coating of wear-resistant alloy to its rear side. Hardening coating is applied with a continuous layer of charge 3 over the ceramic stencil 2, which is made in the form of an advantageous wear pattern. Charge 3 is poured into the windows of the stencil 2 with the layer thickness from 0.4 up to 3.0 mm, 2/3 of the length of the cutting edge so that its surface is at the angle of ≤30°. Then the blank with the stencil 2 and charge 3 is placed into the inductor for induction surfacing.
EFFECT: invention provides for an increased the life of the knife 1.
