SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of measurements and can be used to study the thermophysical characteristics of electrical insulating materials. According to the proposed method for determining the glass transition temperature, a series of tests are carried out by indenter pressing into the surface of the test material at a smoothly varying temperature. Indentation is carried out by the ball indenter with registration during the test of the indentation diagram in the coordinates "load – depth of the impression", with the use of which the HBt, Brinell hardness values for each of the test temperatures. Plot a graph for the Brinell hardness HBt, from the test temperature. Approximate the resulting graph by two straight lines corresponding to the temperature intervals before and after vitrification. Glass transition temperature is determined from the point of intersection of the obtained straight lines on the graph of the hardness HBt, on the temperature.

EFFECT: increased productivity and accuracy of glass transition temperature.
