SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to laser equipment. Method for generating femtosecond ultraviolet laser pulses, implemented by an appropriate system, includes directing a first laser pulse having a fundamental wavelength in the near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum to a nonlinear optical crystal, the first laser pulse having a pulse duration of less than 1,000 femtoseconds. In the first part of the nonlinear optical crystal, at least several photons are converted from the first laser pulse to the wavelength of the second harmonic of the fundamental wavelength to form a second laser pulse in a nonlinear optical crystal. In the second part of a nonlinear optical crystal containing a periodically polarized lanthanum-barium-germanium oxide crystal, converts at least several photons from the first laser pulse and the second laser pulse to the wavelength of the third harmonic of the fundamental wavelength with the formation of a third laser pulse in a nonlinear optical crystal. Then, the third laser pulse is extracted from the nonlinear optical crystal, and the third laser pulse has a pulse duration of less than 1,000 femtoseconds.

EFFECT: technical result is to provide the possibility of increasing the conversion length.
