FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular to methods for processing aluminum-silicon alloys (silumins). Method for modifying silumin includes irradiation with an intense pulsed electron beam of a silumin of the AK12 grade with an electron energy of 18 keV, pulse repetition rate ƒ = 0.3 Hz, the duration of the electron beam pulse τ = 50–150 mcs, the energy density of the electron beam ES = 10–25 J/cm2 and the number of impulses of action n = 1–5, the irradiation is carried out on the face of the sample located above the incision simulating a crack in an argon medium at a residual pressure of 0.02 Pa.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving the quality of the resulting silumin alloy by improving its structure and improving its mechanical properties.
