FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to hardening processing of metals and alloys using concentrated energy flows. The method for treating the surface layer of AK5M2 silumin includes irradiating the surface layer with an intense pulsed electron beam in an argon atmosphere at a residual pressure of 2⋅10-2 Pa with a number of pulses n=3, a pulse repetition rate of 0.3 s-1. Irradiation is carried out with an intense electron beam with an electron energy of 17 keV, an electron beam pulse duration τ=200 mcs, and an electron beam energy density ES=30-50 J/cm2.
EFFECT: formed hardened surface layer of AK5M2 silumin has an improved structure, high microhardness and wear resistance.
