SUBSTANCE: absorbent article comprises a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet and an absorbent core enclosed between the liquid permeable topsheet and the liquid impermeable backsheet. Absorbent article has in its longitudinal direction a crotch portion and two end portions. Absorbent article comprises, at least in its crotch portion, an inlet material having a plurality of apertures. Plurality of openings in the inlet material are formed of a plurality of slots extending in the transverse direction of the absorbent article, and the openings are formed from the slits by elongating the continuous inflowing material in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article. Liquid inlet material has, in the transverse direction of the absorbent article, a central zone and two edge regions.

EFFECT: openings are located in the central region such that the central region of the material with a plurality of openings has a lesser degree of elasticity than the edge regions.
