SUBSTANCE: invention relates to absorbent sanitary products, such as sanitary towels. Absorbent product comprises a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet and an absorbent core enclosed between the topsheet and the backsheet. Absorbent core comprises a liquid inflowing foam material located closest to the liquid permeable topsheet and an absorbent fibrous layer closest to the impermeable backsheet. Liquid inflowing foam material has, in the transverse direction of the absorbent product, two edge regions and one central region located between the edge regions. Central zone has a plurality of apertures formed from a plurality of slots extending in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent product, and wherein the apertures are formed from the slots by expanding the continuous fluid inflowing foam material in the transverse direction of the product. Each edge region of the fluid inflowing foam material has a width which is of least 5.0 mm and is free of apertures.
