SUBSTANCE: invention relates to absorbent article (1) having a longitudinal direction, a transverse direction and a thickness direction and comprising a fluid-permeable upper sheet (2), a fluid-impermeable back sheet (3) and absorbing core (4), enclosed between upper sheet (2) and rear sheet (3) and having in longitudinal direction of front part (8), rear part (9) and crotch part (10) between front part (8) and rear part (9), wherein absorbent core (4) has two lateral zones (4b, 4c) extending longitudinally and spaced apart in the transverse direction by means of at least one channel area (4a) extending in the longitudinal direction. Channel area (4a) has smaller surface density than lateral zones (4b, 4c). Invention also relates to absorbent core (4) and a method for making said absorbent product (1).
