METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FUEL CELL OPERATION WITH ARTIFICIAL AIR Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC H01M8/4089 H01M8/4791

Abstract RU 2668287 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to fuel cell system (1) that is suitable for operating with an oxygen-containing and inert gas cathode working gas and containing an anode working gas containing hydrogen and an inert gas, to a consumer system that operates by means of fuel cell system (1), as well as to the method of operation of fuel cell system (1), and can find application in closed consumer systems such as, for example, underwater vehicles. In the process of the invention, the individual components of the working gases are stored separately and mixed during the operation of the fuel cell system in the required quantities, the proportion of inert gas in the working gases constantly being recirculated. During operation of the fuel cell system, the gas is not withdrawn from the environment, is not released into the environment, and the exhaust gases of the fuel cells do not accumulate in the fuel cell system or in the consumer system. Alternatively, only the anode working gas is mixed and recycled, and the cathode working gas and the cathode exhaust gas are appropriately withdrawn from the environment and discharged to the environment. Thus, the fuel cell system operates with artificial air, i.e. with a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen, the oxygen content of the artificial air being 20 to 50 volume percent.

EFFECT: increased duration and reliability of the operation of fuel cells in a closed system with working gases containing inert components is a technical result of the invention.
