SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel management systems for internal combustion engines. Methods and systems are presented for improving engine performance under high load conditions with limited combustion phasing while maintaining the maximum cylinder pressure within the limits. After a preliminary injection of fuel, the main fuel injection is divided into a number of smaller injections, smaller injections are distributed relative to the instant of the main fuel injection so that the maximum cylinder pressure for each injection is within the limits of the pressure in the cylinder.
EFFECT: greater enthalpy is created to accelerate the heating of the catalytic converters of the exhaust gases, fuel economy is improved, power and torque are increased, and the toxicity of the engine exhaust gases is reduced.
