FIELD: instrument engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the design of filter housings, in particular to devices for detecting clogging and to indicators of filtering conditions, and can be used to improve the quality of drinking water purification in household pitcher filters. Method is proposed for determining the amount of liquid flowing out of a vessel of an arbitrary shape, provided with the functions of its periodic filling and draining when it is tilted, consisting in that the said vessel is provided with a tilt sensor and a vessel tilt time counter, while a certain rate of flow of liquid from a particular vessel corresponds to the tilt angle exceeding the predetermined value for this vessel; the sensor is connected to a processing unit equipped with a means for indicating and recording the initial instant of fluid outflow and the vessel tilt time; wherein the volume of the leaked liquid is defined as the product of the vessel tilt time at an angle greater than a predetermined value by the liquid outflow rate at such an angle. Time counter is switched on when the value of a certain tilt angle is exceeded, and is turned off when the value falls below this value.

EFFECT: technical result: providing control over the life of the filter cartridge in the liquid purification devices, and notifying the user on the current status and/or end of life while maintaining the simplicity of the design of the equipment complex for this task.
