FIELD: measurement; testing.
SUBSTANCE: activation field associated with a proximity sensor is generated. Signal indicative of the activation field is monitored. First amplitude is determined when the signal is stable for a minimum time period during user sensor interaction. Subsequent second amplitude is determined when the signal is stable for the minimum time period during the same user sensor interaction. Activation output is generated when the second amplitude exceeds the first amplitude by a known amount. Proximity switch activation method, a proximity switch assembly are also proposed.
EFFECT: reliability and ergonomics are improved.
