SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a proximity switch assembly and to a method for detecting the activation of a proximity switch assembly. Assembly includes a plurality of proximity switches, each having a proximity sensor providing an excitation field for determining and a control circuit that processes the excitation field of each proximity switch for determining activation. Malleable material covers the proximity sensors. Recess is formed in a substrate between the malleable material and the sensor. Groove may extend in the substrate between adjacent proximity switches. Malleable material may further include a protruding portion.
EFFECT: improved detection of switch activation.
