FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to safety electrical devices mounted on vehicles with electric traction. System for protecting the power circuit of an electric locomotive, containing traction motors, traction converters, includes n-number of protection devices, the inputs of which are connected to the high-speed circuit breaker of the locomotive, and the outputs are connected to the inputs of the n-number of traction converters, to the outputs of each of which traction motors are connected. In this case, the signal circuit from the traction transducer is connected to the protection device, and the signal circuits from the protection devices are connected to the circuit of the high-speed circuit breaker. Protection device consists of a power IGBT transistor included in the power supply circuit of the traction converter from the trolley system, from the control device, current and voltage sensors. In addition, protection device has a signal circuit input from the traction converter and an output of the signal circuit for disconnecting the high-speed circuit breaker.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to protect the supply circuits from the electric locomotive trolley system from overcurrent.
