FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. Method of periodic fed-batch fermentation for production of bacteriochlorophyll a (Bchla) is proposed. Method comprises cultivation cells of a strain DSM 1374 Rhodovulum sulfidophilum in a growth medium containing citric acid, CaCl2*2H2O, MgSO4*7H2O, citrate FeNH4, succinic acid, disodium succinate*6H2O, Na2SO4, K2CO3, yeast extract, NH4Cl, KH2PO4, K2HPO4*3H2O, NaCl, NaOH, KOH, anti-foam agent and microelements. In the fermentation process, aqueous solution of succinic acid and disodium succinate, aqueous solution NH4Cl, KH2PO4, K2HPO4*3H2O from external reservoirs connected to the fermenter vessel, and keeping the oxygen level at or lower than 10 %. After fermentation completion, Bchla is separated from isolated cells.
EFFECT: invention provides increase in the yield of the desired product.
