FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, in particular, dentistry, medical microbiology and endocrinology, and can be used to predict the development of type 2 diabetes in patients with chronic periodontitis. Method includes carrying out metagenomic analysis of at least 4 samples of the microbial biofilm of the periodontal groove, and if samples contain more than 9 % of the Porphyrmonadaceae family in combination with the absence of Sphingobacteriaceae bacteria of the patient with chronic periodontitis, they are considered to be a risk group for the development of type 2 diabetes. Method is confirmed microbiologically or by PCR method.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention consists in the determination of such signs associated with chronic periodontitis, that would be pathogenetically associated with insulin sensitivity of cells and would allow to predict the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
