FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of materials by cutting and can be used in the processing of products from hard-to-machine materials, including titanium alloys. In the method, the cutting tool contains a working part made of hard alloy, which has front and rear surfaces, at the intersection of which at least one cutting edge is formed. Further, a multi-layer wear-resistant coating is applied to the front and rear surfaces. It contains at least a consistently applied adhesive layer, a transition layer and a nanostructured wear layer. Said adhesive layer consists of a nanolayer αCr+βNb+kZr+μHf, where α, β, k and μ are mass fractions of the corresponding metals selected from the range from 0 to 1. Said transition layer consists of a layer gCrN+jNbN+nZrN+rHfN, where g, j, n and r are the mass fractions of the corresponding metal nitrides selected from the range from 0 to 1. Said nanostructured wear-resistant layer at least contains alternating nanolayers iCrN+mNbN+sZrN+hHfN, where i, m, s and h are the mass fractions of the corresponding metal nitrides selected from the range from 0 to 1.

EFFECT: resistance of the cutting tool is increased.
