FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to metal-cutting tools, in particular, to cutters used for processing products from hard-to-cut materials, including titanium and its alloys. Cutting plate of the cutting tool contains a carbide base, the cutting wedge of which has front and rear surfaces, where a wear-resistant coating is applied, containing at least consistently applied adhesive nano-layer, a transition layer and a nanostructured wear-resistant layer, and at the intersection of which at least one cutting edge is formed. At distance of up to 0.5 mm and more from the cutting edge in each cross section of the cutting wedge, perpendicular to the cutting edge, the maximum height of the front surface roughness profile is greater than the rear surface, and their ratio is selected from a range of 1.15…2.5. Thickness of the adhesive nanolayer is less than the maximum height of the roughness profile of the carbide substrate under the wear-resistant coating of the front surface and the rear surface. Compositions of these layers and the conditions for their selection are given.
EFFECT: resistance of the cutting tool is increased.
