FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of electrochemical oxidation of alcohols, including the preparation of the reaction mixture consisting of oxidizable alcohol, water, organic solvent, which is used as methylene chloride, potassium iodide, nitroxyl radical of the series 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine with the addition of pyridine, followed by electrolysis at a temperature of 25–30 °C and its completion after passing 2 F of electricity.
EFFECT: present invention allows to reduce the time of the process of oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes without the formation of by-products.
