FIELD: electrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for electrochemical oxidation of alcohols into nitriles. The proposed method involves the preliminary preparation of a reaction mixture consisting of oxidized alcohol, an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate, an organic solvent, which uses methylene chloride, a nitroxyl radical of the series 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine, 2,6-dimethylpyridine, as well as additives of ammonium iodide as a source of iodine and nitrogen. Electrolysis is carried out at a temperature of 25-30°C and finished after passing 5 F of electricity.
EFFECT: method reduces the conversion time to obtain nitriles in one stage at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.
