FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for oxidation of primary or secondary alcohol preferably to aldehyde, respectively ketone, which includes the following stages: a) preparation of catalytic composition, including at least one nitroxyl radical-containing compound, at least, one NO source, at last one carboxylic or mineral acid or one anhydride of carboxylic or mineral acid, b) preparation of reaction mixture by addition of at least one primary or secondary alcohol and oxygen-containing gas to catalytic composition, obtained at stage a), respectively stage e), as well as one or several solvents, if necessary, c) incubation of reaction mixture, obtained at stage b) at temperature from 0 to 100°C or temperature of solvent boiling, d) carried out simultaneously with stage c) or after it crystallisation of reaction product and e) regeneration of catalytic composition by removal of crystallised reaction product from reaction mixture, obtained at stage d).

EFFECT: claimed method makes it possible to optimise ratio between target product output and quantity of used catalyst without application of toxic salts and salts, requiring labour-consuming extraction.
