FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of materials by cutting and can be used when drilling deep holes in a steel billet. Method involves drilling a workpiece on a machine with the help of a deep-hole drill using a system for supplying and discharging coolant and exiting it with chips. Drilling is carried out on a universal horizontal boring machine by axial movement of the spindle with auger drill to a steel billet with a frequency of rotation of the drill n=115–125 rpm and the spindle moving speed S=0.05–0.15 mm/rev, with fixed fixing of the steel billet on the machine table with bolts and slats.
EFFECT: stable and uniform chip breaking is provided, the time for drilling the hole is shortened, and the lead axis is reduced relative to the hole axis.
