FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used in repair of crankshafts of internal combustion engines (ICE). Method includes induction hardening of crankshaft necks with further grinding for repair dimensions and finishing. Before induction hardening, the surface of the crankshaft neck is preheated to a depth of 0.5 to 1 mm, and induction hardening is carried out by moving the inductor parallel to the axis of the shaft at a speed of 15 to 25 mm/s with a gap between the inductor and the surface of the crankshaft neck 5–10 % of the hardened part diameter.
EFFECT: invention allows to increase the wear resistance, durability and reliability of engine crankshafts and extend their service life.
