FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the radio location and can be used in the radar location stations (RS) with phased antenna array. First technical result is achieved by the fact that in the radar station with an antenna array consisting of sub-arrays, measuring the signals amplitudes ratios and determining the possible sets of elevation angles values with different radiation patterns, given by the different amplitude and phase distributions in the sub-arrays, then comparing the obtained with different radiation patterns values and as the true value taking the elevation angle that coincides in all radiation patterns. Another technical result is achieved by the fact that, for example, using the electronic scanning method, in which the highly directional antenna in the vertical plane is used, or using the partial diagrams method, the elevation angles range where the target is located is “roughly” determined, and then, in this angles range, measuring the signals in the antenna amplitudes ratios for different radiation patterns, and by the measured ratio determining the target elevation angle exact value, taking into account of the antenna radiation patterns known forms.
EFFECT: first technical result is located at high elevation angles the radar targets elevation angle unambiguous measurement with the working frequency band small width; another technical result of the invention is reduction in the SHF signals processing time for the radar targets elevation angle determining.
