FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of technical ceramic materials production and is aimed at the samarium mono-sulfide target pellets production, which are used for the samarium mono-sulfide micro- and nanofilms magnetron deposition method as the semiconductor strain gauges sensitive elements. Samples of metallic samarium distillate with purity of 99.9 mol% and sulfur of “16-5” grade are taken in the ratios (1.15–1.2)Sm-1S, placed in the quartz ampoule, sealed, then heated from 100 °C at a rate of 50 °C per day up to the temperature of 900 °C. Annealing duration at the temperature 900 °C is not less than 300 hours. To make ceramics, charge is taken from the ampoule center, which is grinded and pressed into the article at a pressure of not less than 2 t/cm2 and annealed in the tantalum crucible at a temperature of 1,600–1,700 °C for 0.5–1 h.
EFFECT: production of technical ceramics containing not less than 98½ mol% of the SmS phase, which does not contain the Sm3S4 impurities.
