FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to methods for thermomechanical treatment of super-austenitic stainless steels. Method of processing super-austenitic stainless steel includes heating the steel to a working temperature range from recrystallisation temperature to a temperature below the incipient melting temperature of steel, forming the steel in the working temperature range, heating the steel to a temperature in the working temperature range, wherein the super-austenitic stainless steel is not cooled to a temperature below the working temperature range for the period from said pressure treatment of the steel to heating at least the surface area. Steel is then held in the working temperature range for a period of time sufficient to recrystallise the surface area of the steel and to minimise grain growth in steel, and the steel is cooled from the working temperature range at a cooling rate to a temperature which minimises grain growth in the steel.
EFFECT: higher corrosion resistance due to the formation of an equiaxial recrystallised grain structure in the cross-section of the blanks.
