FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, in particular, to a method for inducing a virus-specific immune response in a subject, as well as to an immunogenic composition. Disclosed is a method for inducing a virus-specific immune response in a subject, comprising administering an effective amount of a silicified virus or silicified viral particles to the subject. Also disclosed is an immunogenic composition comprising a silicified virus or a silicified viral particle and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or adjuvant, where the virus is a vaccinia virus, rotavirus, adenovirus, influenza virus, lentivirus, flavivirus, hepatitis virus, picornavirus or coronavirus.
EFFECT: group of inventions enables to maintain infectiousness of the virus and the ability to induce an immune response in an infected host, and in addition, the silicified virus is resistant to dehydration.
