SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the vehicles. Method of controlling a hybrid propulsion unit of a vehicle having an engine and selectively connected using a DC / DC converter to high-voltage and low-voltage power supply systems, comprises steps of determining whether it is advisable to automatically stop the engine to reduce fuel consumption. If it is advisable to stop the engine, then the engine is stopped and a low-voltage battery is used, which forms part of the low-voltage power supply system, to supply power to one or more low-voltage loads during the automatic shutdown of the engine, regardless of the charge state of the high-voltage battery that forms part of the high-voltage power supply system.
EFFECT: reduced fuel consumption.
