FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in the fact that the current is supplied with pulses, the duration and frequency is regulated depending on the processing conditions and synchronized with the phase of the elastoplastic deformation of the metal in the cutting zone of the workpiece. Pulses are fed at the moment of coincidence of the positive half-waves of the 1st and 5th and negative half-waves of the 3rd harmonic oscillations of the main component of the cutting force. Pulse duration is chosen to be equal to three times the delay in the onset of plastic flow of the material being processed, and amplitude – according to the above formula, depending on the depth of cut and feed per revolution, tensile strength and absolute magnetic permeability of the metal of the workpiece and the thickness of the defect zone in the vicinity of the shear plane.
EFFECT: elimination of temperature overvoltages in the treated surface and a decrease in the intensity of tool wear is achieved.
