METHOD FOR PLANNING SURGICAL TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH SCOLIOTIC DEFORMITY Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B17/00 A61B8/10

Abstract RU 2677759 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to traumatology and orthopedics, and can be used in planning the surgical treatment of patients with scoliotic deformity. For this purpose, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used as a radiological diagnosis. At the same time determine the presence of syringomyelic cysts and/or expansion of the spinal canal. Upon detection of syringomyelic cysts and/or expansion of the spinal canal with the largest size up to 5 mm, correction of the scoliotic deformity is performed in full. If syringomyelic cysts and/or spinal canal enlargement with the largest size of more than 5 mm is detected, a neurosurgeon consultation is prescribed. In absence of neurological deficiency, correction of scoliosis without intraoperative traction is performed. In presence of a neurological deficit, neurosurgical treatment is performed. After neurosurgical treatment, a repeated MRI examination is performed, the results of which determine the presence of syringomyelic cysts and/or expansion of the spinal canal and repeat the planning of surgical treatment.

EFFECT: method provides optimal spinal correction in this category of patients, allows you to determine the number of stages of surgical orthopedic and/or neurological intervention, their sequence, nature and extent of intraoperative exposure by identifying certain parameters.
