FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: present invention may be used in turbocharged internal combustion engines. This method for operation of wastegate (200) in an internal combustion engine consists in the fact that when the engine is started, wastegate valve (218) is positioned on valve seat (220). Then, the position of valve seat (220) is recorded and the position of valve seat (220) is associated with the operating temperature. After that, the position of actuator (202) of wastegate (200) is adjusted on the basis of the position of valve seat (220) during engine operation, including the implementation of the steps, in which each time wastegate valve (218) is located on valve seat (220): the force applied by actuator (202) of the wastegate to wastegate valve (218) is increased to confirm contact with wastegate valve seat (220), it is followed by determining the current position of valve seat (220) and the current operating temperature, the previously registered position of valve seat (220) is updated by recording the current position of valve seat (220) at the current operating temperature to form a plurality of positions of valve seat (220). Each position of valve seat (220) is associated with appropriate operating temperatures. Disclosed are variants of the method for operation of the wastegate.

EFFECT: technical result is to improve the positioning accuracy of the wastegate valve.
